Vision / Mission
Project Pathfinder envisions a world free of sexual violence and abuse. Our mission is to provide psychotherapy, consultation, research, training, and education in a way that prevents sexual violence and abuse, protects community interests, and improves the lives of clients, families, and the community at large.
History
Project Pathfinder started as an adult sexual behavior treatment program at HealthEast in St. Paul in 1986, and incorporated as an independent nonprofit agency in 1992.
In 2002, the Minnesota Department of Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control recognized our commitment to preventing sexual abuse by funding "Stop It Now! Minnesota," – a program that teaches adults to recognize the signs of child sexual abuse and how to intervene to protect a child.
Project Pathfinder is unique because we are the only nonprofit organization in Minnesota that focuses on the entire continuum of sexual abuse prevention. We teach adults how to intervene to stop abuse before it happens and treat harmful sexual behaviors so they never happen again.
We know and understand sexual abuse, because we have been providing prevention programs for more than 20 years. Using what we know about the factors that contribute to sexual abuse, we implement programs that stop abuse from happening in the first place.
